Our Quality group is currently looking to add a Project Quality Manager to our growing team, based initially on site in Northern Ontario with additional projects across Ontario and Atlantic Canada.
Reporting to the Quality Lead, we are seeking a skilled and experienced professional with experience ensuring project deliverables are fit for purpose and meet all requirements. They are responsible for ensuring all aspects of Valard's QMS are implemented effectively at all stages of the assigned project and will also provide input on Valard's QMS to ensure suitability of the System to the unique needs of the assigned project, consistent with the philosophy of continuous improvement.
Please Note: Position will start on a project in Northern Ontario working a 20 days on / 8 days off schedule, with additional projects in Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Travel to site from any major airport and accommodations while working are provided.
Duties and Responsibilities- Implement and maintain an ISO 9001 compliant Quality Management System on the assigned project
- Ensure the Valard Quality systems (MBOS, SharePoint, etc.) is effectively implemented and maintained on the assigned project
- Continuous planning and management of project Quality resources to ensure the QMS is implemented effectively and efficiently
- Liaise with relevant parties (project management, project staff, the customer, subcontractors and suppliers) to ensure concerns and non-conformities are addressed effectively and in a timely manner
- Ensure work is appropriately documented and turned over to the customer upon completion
- During the preconstruction phase, aid in the creation of project-specific Quality documentation including Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) and Quality checksheets
- Ensure all parties, including construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers, are aware of all relevant project requirements (Providing training sessions where required)
- Participate in internal and external ISO 9001 audits of the assigned project's implementation of the Quality Management System
- Conduct regular audits of project construction crews, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project requirements are met
- Provide input and suggestions to Project Manager(s) on the selection of third-party testing agencies and manage their activities in accordance with the project ITP
- Plan and manage project Quality resources to align with project schedule and requirements and adapt to changes as they occur
- Provide direction to ensure all work is properly documented and all inspection and testing activities are carried out in accordance with the project inspection and test plans
- Liaise with project management and the customer on high level Quality issues and answer Quality related questions as they arise
- Liaise with Engineers of Record (EOR) for each discipline to work through any issues that arise and to find solutions that are acceptable to all parties, including through requests for information (RFIs)
- Conduct or facilitate the identification, investigation and resolution of all nonconformities which occur on the assigned project
- Participate (directly or through a designate) in final customer walk downs and ensure any identified deficiencies are properly tracked and resolved
- Participate in all stages of the hiring process of new Quality personnel for the assigned project
- Post-Secondary education in a related field
- 2 Years experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control
- 5 years of Powerline Industry experience
- Extensive knowledge of Quality Management Systems and related ISO standards, with emphasis on ISO 9001
- Proven ability to read, interpret and apply Codes, Standards, Specifications and Drawings
- Advanced knowledge of Foundations, Transmission / Distribution Lines and/or Substations work, and applicable standards which apply (CSA, ASTM, etc.)
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat / Bluebeam
- Proven supervisory experience with teams of at least 10 resources in the past
- Must be able to travel and work a 20 on / 8 off project rotation
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
- Certification such as Journeyperson Certification, CET, EIT, P.Eng, etc.
- Civil and/or Electrical experience
