We are excited to announce that we have been approved to hire 4 Regular Full-time Protective Services Officer positions within the Calgary Zone to support the increases in demand. We are looking for a flexible pool of trained staff who can be deployed quickly to support areas experiencing high workload, staff shortages, or emergent situations. Position Details:

• Base Locations: - FMC
• Hours of Work: 4 on 4 off as per team rotation Responsibilities: These positions will play a crucial role in supporting staffing pressures across all five acute care sites within the Calgary Zone. As a multi-site position, successful candidates will be assigned to various sites based on operational needs
Description:
As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff and AHS property including: violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions and detentions of persons and first responder to critical events. You will provide support for facility departments on matters of security and safety practices, participates in reviewing and recommending policy, and fosters and maintains positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General. Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks program). Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence. Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed under 4:45 minute, within 6 months prior to commencing employment.
Additional Required Qualifications:
At least 2 years of related work experience. Active or eligible to become a Community Peace Officer appointment by Alberta Solicitor General. Alberta non-GDL class 5 operator's license, or a provincial equivalent, with no more than four demerits and no charges or pending suspensions. Current Emergency First Aid and CPR.
Preferred Qualifications:
Related degree or diploma in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or Psychology. Other related education may be considered. Experience in uniformed public servant roles or emergency services. Community involvement or volunteering (unpaid positions). Knowledge of or training in harm reduction, anti-racism and Indigenous awareness. Comfortable and experienced with public speaking.
