POSITION OVERVIEW
We have an immediate need in our
R&D - Academic Solutions Department
for an academic content and software professional. This position offers an exciting and challenging opportunity for a motivated professional.
You will be an integral member of our engineering team as you use your technical expertise, creativity, and modern digital media knowledge to develop engaging courseware, rich real-world applications, exciting demonstrations, and overall, help us improve the effectiveness and end-user experience for our systems. Depending on your interests, this position can easily be scaled to include a wide variety of diverse tasks such as electromechanical design, project management, product marketing, and sales support.
The ideal candidate has a degree in an engineering discipline, with a specialization in robotics or mechatronics, and
very strong
English writing skills. A strong understanding of how engineering courses are developed is essential, while experience as an instructor, teaching assistant, laboratory coordinator, or engineer would be an asset. Most importantly, you are passionate and dedicated to developing innovative approaches to education.
Additional RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in customer-facing activities, including tradeshows, webinars, customer training, etc.
- Some travel, including international, will be required
- The "go-to" person for technical knowledge related to Quanser's extensive product line
- Some custom R&D and application development may be required
- Frequent collaboration with technical groups for courseware, applications, demonstrations, documentation, etc.
- Frequent collaboration with other departments in the company, including marketing, sales, and production
Qualifications
- A graduate degree in an engineering discipline specializing in robotics, or mechatronics, from a recognized University
- Near-perfect English writing skills with an ability to express complex concepts in a clear, engaging, and professional manner is required
- At least 1-3 years of professional experience in a progressive position in a technology company is required
Essential Technical Skills
- Expert skills in technical communication tools including but not limited to digital presentation and multimedia software such as Office Suite, Adobe Suite, LaTeX, etc.
- Experience with source control methodologies such as SVN, GitHub etc.
- Strong knowledge, experience and comfort with using and developing with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C++ 11 (or greater), and ROS2
- Comfort with tools including but not limited to Gazebo, Isaac ROS, Isaac Sim, Nav2 and MoveIt
- Experience in robotics frameworks and algorithms such as State estimation, path planning, computer vision and behavior planning
- Deploying software using development environments such as Docker
- Experience with multimodal sensor information in a robotics application
- Experience developing with Windows and Linux on a variety of targets (Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson etc.)
PREFERRED Technical Skills
- Experience using DAQ systems to interface sensors and actuators
- Experience designing courses and developing course materials or teaching experience as a TA/lecturer
- Experience and comfort developing software applications for manipulators, mobile robots, drones, cars
- Experience using ArduPilot, PX4, QGroundControl
- Experience deploying robotics frameworks in a production setting
