Applications are currently being accepted for part-time or full-time positions in the Partner Assault Response (PAR) program. The PAR program requires facilitation by a male and female co-facilitator team to role-model gender equality in relation to decision-making and power-sharing. We are seeking qualified candidates who identify as male to fulfill this requirement. For this position, JHSWW welcomes applicants for part-time hours hours per week) or full-time hours hours per week). Scheduled hours will fall within the window of 8:30am to 8:30pm, Monday through Saturday. This position is based out of our Kitchener Office and reports to the Director of Community & Client Services. The incumbent is responsible for implementing the PAR program, conducting measurement and evaluation processes, contributing to program development, and engaging in community education initiatives. A driver's license, insurance, and reliable vehicle are required for the position. This is a unionized position, meaning the job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between JHSWW and UFCW union representing the employees. If you are hired for this position in a permanent role, you will be required to join the union, pay union dues and adhere to the terms and conditions outlined in the collective agreement.

Responsibilities:

· PAR Facilitation and Client Support – Co-facilitate PAR groups aimed at reducing violent and controlling behaviours while fostering conflict resolution and other healthy relationship skills, assist participants in the establishment of individual goals, utilize appropriate counseling techniques that promote and facilitate positive change, actively role-model gender equality in relation to decision-making and power-sharing, provide individual PAR sessions, and ensure all safety procedures and work unit procedures are followed

· Measurement and Evaluation – Evaluate and monitor participant behaviours, cognitions, stages of change and motivation, monitor and document attendance, provide participant information to Probation Officers as required, conduct intakes, create files, and complete will statements as directed, ensure files are kept up to date, work on achieving service targets and report team statistics in advance of deadlines, and implement program evaluation methods and data collection tools as required

· Program Development – Regularly review program content, referral, intake, and communication for information sharing strategies with community partners, support program enhancements where needed to ensure that program elements are consistent with evidence-based practices and address emergent service delivery needs, update referral sources on changes in program developments, policies, and procedures, and notify the Program Manager and Senior Coordinator of potential problems in program service delivery and participate in the implementation of solutions to address identified issues

· Community Education – Deliver community presentations on the benefit of the PAR program, respond to requests for information on the PAR program, build positive relationships with community stakeholders through outreach and engagement, and attend community meetings and events, positively representing the Agency to the community

· Other Duties as Assigned

The following are essential knowledge, skills, abilities, and requirements for this position:

· A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as social work, psychology or other social science field or equivalent as determined by John Howard Society of Waterloo-Wellington

· 3 years of experience providing therapeutic and psycho-educational services for adults

· 3 years of adult group facilitation experience

· A thorough knowledge of current intimate partner violence (IPV) treatment modalities, oppression and systemic factors in IPV, socialization, the dynamics of violence and abuse, power and control and the effects of abuse, particularly on women and children

· Demonstrated gender-based violence analysis skills

· An understanding of the policies and procedures of local police, Crown attorney's office, courts, probation and parole as they relate to the court process for IPV offences

· Experience working with people impacted by violence, trauma, and mental health

· Demonstrated risk and needs assessment, client engagement, motivational counselling, and crisis intervention skills

· An ability to effectively model egalitarian thinking, particularly related to gender equality and practice non-violent conflict resolution and respectful communication

· Member in good standing of a college/regulatory body or eligibility for registration preferred

· Strong cross-cultural and diversity perspective and awareness

· Excellent organizational, time management, and verbal and written communication skills

· An understanding of the legal duty to report under the Child, Youth and Family Services Act and other relevant legislation

· Knowledge of restorative justice practices, and an understanding of systemic barriers (e.g., poverty, homelessness, substance use, etc.)

· Demonstrated computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, EMHware, and internet search tools

· Fluency in French would be considered an asset

· Current clearance from a criminal records check. Must be able to meet criminal and other offence/conviction screening criteria necessary for the Agency to maintain its contracts, insurance requirements, and charitable status

Compensation Package:

The starting rate for this position is $29.88 per hour. Employees working 35 hours per week are eligible for 4 weeks of vacation per year, Competitive Group Benefits, Pension (after 2 years), and Employee Recognition Program. Employees working between 25-34 hours per week will have vacation prorated accordingly and will be eligible for Competitive Group Benefits, Pension (after 2 years), and Employee Recognition Program. Employees working 24 hours per week or less will receive pay in lieu of vacation and will not be eligible for Group Benefits, Pension, or Employee Recognition Program.
