Business Systems Analyst (Remote Contract, Canada)

Our client, a financial services organization, is seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to join their team. This is a remote role within Canada; only candidates currently residing in Canada will be considered.

The successful candidate will play a key role in planning, designing, and implementing business and operational systems with a strong focus on data analysis and system performance. The role involves translating business requirements into actionable technical specifications and delivering insights through SQL-based analysis, reporting dashboards, and metrics monitoring. You'll work closely with stakeholders, developers, QA teams, and business units to support projects and ensure the successful delivery of technology initiatives.

This is a 6-month remote contract with strong potential for extension.

Responsibilities: Drive clear requirements and translate business needs into technical specs and user stories; facilitate workshops and stakeholder interviews; analyze data with SQL, build and maintain dashboards, and monitor API performance and SLAs; support API integrations, data migrations, and system upgrades; produce core artifacts (process maps, data flows, specs, test plans); coordinate timelines across teams to deliver on scope; partner with QA on test strategy and execution; enable UAT, training, and documentation; uphold data governance, compliance, and operational standards.

Requirements:

5+ years of relevant experience in the investment or financial services industry, ideally across front, middle, or back-office systems.

Proven experience in business analysis, stakeholder management, and process modeling.

Proficiency in writing use cases, user stories, and business process flows.

Strong SQL skills, including querying, performance tuning, and stored procedure development.

Proficiency with reporting/visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.

Practical knowledge of importing data for use in reporting tools, spreadsheets, graphs, and charts.

Experience with system specification development, including functional and non-functional requirements.
