We're looking for our next Senior Manager, Reconciliation, Payments and Controls. Could it be you?

The Senior Manager, Reconciliation, Payments and Controls is responsible for overseeing the reconciliation, payments processing, and controls framework for various banking products, with a focus on credit cards and other products. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, mitigates operational risks, and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, particularly those set by OSFI. 

The Senior Manager, Reconciliation, Payments and Controls is a key leadership role within the Bank Operations department, responsible for the management and oversight of the reconciliation and payment functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of transactions, and maintaining a strong control environment. The Senior Manager will lead a team responsible for daily and periodic reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies, and improving processes. This role requires a strong understanding of banking operations, payment systems, and regulatory requirements, as well as the ability to manage risk and implement effective controls.

In this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the end-to-end reconciliation process for various banking products, including credit cards, ensuring all accounts are reconciled accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Overseeing the processing of payments, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Designing, Developing, implementing, and maintaining internal operational accounts & settlement flows for effective balance management.

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining robust internal controls to mitigate operational risks and ensure the integrity of financial data.

  • Identifying, investigating, and resolving reconciliation discrepancies and payment exceptions, implementing corrective actions as needed.

  • Ensuring compliance with OSFI guidelines and other relevant regulatory requirements related to payments and reconciliations.

  • Leading and mentoring a team of reconciliation and payment professionals, fostering a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

  • Developing and maintaining documentation of reconciliation and payment processes and procedures.

  • Identifying opportunities to automate and improve reconciliation and payment processes to increase efficiency and reduce errors.

  • Preparing and presenting reports on reconciliation and payment activities to management.

  • Collaborating with other departments, including Finance, IT, and Audit, to ensure seamless operations and effective issue resolution.

  • Managing relationships with external vendors and service providers related to payment processing.

  • Hold a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field

  • Hold a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, CA, CMA)

  • Have 7+ years of experience in bank operations, with a focus on reconciliation, payments, and controls

  • Have in-depth knowledge of payment systems (e.g., SWIFT, ACH, etc.) and credit card processing

  • Have a solid understanding of accounting principles and practices

  • Have experience with banking software and systems

  • Have strong knowledge of banking operations, payment systems, and reconciliation processes

  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail

  • Have a solid understanding of financial controls and risk management principles

  • Have experience with automating operational processes

  • Have knowledge of efficient data management and reporting tools (e.g., PowerBI)

  • Have solid understanding of OSFI regulations and other relevant regulatory requirements

  • Have proven leadership and team management skills

  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Are proficient in relevant software and systems

  • Have strong organizational and time management skills
