Description

  • Under the supervision of the EDUCATION COORDINATOR, the Specialized Tutor is responsible for tutoring students who require additional support. They assist the Education Coordinator in developing, implementing and following up on participant's individual action plans.

She/he participates as an active and effective member of the Children, Youth and Families team in a manner that enhances the delivery of Tyndale St-George's programming and services while promoting its values and upholding its reputation to the larger community.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • They work in close collaboration with the participant's Educator to further assess needs and strengths.
  • They assist the Education Coordinator in developing, implementing and following up on individual action plans.
  • Develop, research and study proven methods and tools to support student engagement and consistency.
  • Ensure positive interpersonal working relationships with participants, parents, co-workers and volunteers.
  • Assist Education Coordinator with communications with parents and teachers about challenges, needs, successes and student progress
  • Actively participate and come prepared for staff and supervisory meetings.
  • Efficiently complete all administrative tasks assigned.

Support of Tyndale St-Georges

  • Promote Centre services through all program activities (publicity, recruitment, registrations, and orientations).
  • Participation in mandatory special events and other activities of Tyndale St-Georges.
  • Attend relevant Centre wide meetings and events.
  • Respect, follow and apply Tyndale's code of conduct and policies and procedures.

Specific tasks:

  • Support the Education Coordinator and the Educators/Animators with identifying program participants who struggle with meeting program expectations
  • Participate along with the Education coordinator in creating, implementing and evaluating individualized action plans
  • Support the creation of special activities that provide daily opportunities to improve their behavior, socio-emotional and executive functioning skills
  • Communicate, share and transfer important information to program colleagues, partners and managers rapidly and effectively by using the tools provided

Salary and Daily schedule:

  • Starting salary: 19$/hour
  • Schedule: Monday to wednesday 2:30pm-6:00pm. Thursday 1:00pm-6:00pm. Total of 14hrs/week
