How does the role impact the organization?
The Senior Tax Services Associate requires an organized, hardworking, team-oriented and computer proficient candidate. The individual must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, manage file preparation from start to finish while meeting the department's tax deadlines. This role will require effective communication with internal staff, Financial Advisors and their end clients.
What will your role be responsible for?
- End-to-end completion of tax engagements through planning, data collection, computing taxes owed, preparing Canadian tax returns (and other compliance documents), preparing year-end tax forms and ensuring compliance with government standards while corresponding with Financial Advisors and clients to address their needs
- Advising clients of engagement status and seek clarification on discrepancies where applicable
- Set up files for new clients and maintain client database
- Correspond with various government agencies to address tax compliance issues
- Prepare correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from tax engagements
- Develop and apply knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act and related legislation
- Develop a thorough understanding of Raymond James' services, businesses and industry
- Collaborate with internal teams to outline roles and responsibilities, deadlines and provide guidance and training to seasonal staff during tax season
- Maintain high quality control by reviewing tax returns and other work done from other members of the team for accuracy and completeness
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
- Liaise and correspond professionally with clients, colleagues and the firm leadership team
- Attend internal and external courses to further develop industry and tax knowledge

What do we expect from you?
- Bilingualism proficiency is required (French and English)
- Knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act with respect to basic individual tax concepts;
- Strong professional communication skills, both verbal and written;
- Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining positive relationships with clients and colleagues;
- Meticulous attention to detail in all tasks and activities;
- Exceptional organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities effectively;
- Proficient in time management, prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines;
- Customer-centric mindset with a focus on providing excellent client service;
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce or Business Administration (Accounting and/or Finance major is preferred);
- Completion or near completion of Chartered Professional Account (CPA);
- 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in public accounting or tax;
- Experience in the preparation of domestic tax compliance as well as research and documentation of tax issues;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); and
- Experience working with a tax software such as Tax Prep and Profile is an asset.
