Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Driver's Mate to assist with the safe and efficient transportation of freight. The ideal candidate will support the driver in maneuvering vehicles, handling freight, and ensuring timely deliveries. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in commercial driving and logistics operations, contributing to the smooth functioning of our transportation team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the driver with vehicle inspections and pre-trip checks before departure
  • Support in loading and unloading freight using appropriate equipment such as forklifts when necessary
  • Help secure cargo to ensure safe transit during transportation
  • Navigate routes efficiently, adhering to all safety and traffic regulations
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding delivery schedules and any issues encountered
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and work area after deliveries
  • Support moving tasks within warehouses or loading docks as needed

Skills

  • Mechanical knowledge to assist with basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Experience or familiarity with moving heavy or bulky items safely
  • Forklift operation skills are a plus for handling freight during loading/unloading processes
  • Commercial driving experience is preferred, including understanding of safety protocols on the road
  • Ability to handle freight securely and efficiently during transit
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with team members, drivers, and clients effectively
  • Physical stamina for moving freight, standing for extended periods, and assisting with loading/unloading tasks

This position is vital for ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of goods while supporting overall logistics operations.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $23.00 per hour
