Discipline Coordinator
to join our team in Burnaby on a 14-month contract from January 2026 until March 2027
The Discipline Coordinator assists the LEC department and the Discipline Committee with the discipline process of complaints against engineers and geoscientists, or engineering or geoscience firms. The Discipline Coordinator will coordinate all aspects of the discipline process, including scheduling of discipline hearings, facilitating the resolution process, and monitoring compliance of discipline conditions.

What You Will Be Doing
- The Discipline Coordinator will work closely with the Legal Counsel, Discipline Manager and the Associate Director, Investigation and Discipline on discipline matters.
- Coordinate the procedural aspects of the discipline process, including facilitating appointments of discipline panels, scheduling of hearings and resolution meetings, providing documents and information to discipline panels as needed, and coordinating and communicating with legal counsel as needed.
- Work with the Chair and the Vice Chair of the Discipline Committee on general administrative matters for the Discipline Committee including appointments and reappointments of committee members, initial vetting of prospective committee members, facilitating interviews with prospective committee members, polling committee members for availability for discipline matters, and communicating appointments and dates for meetings to the Discipline Committee.
- The Discipline Coordinator will coordinate and support biannual Discipline Committee training sessions, including preparing a PowerPoint presentation of recent discipline decisions, drafting the agenda for the Associate Director, Investigation and Discipline's review, and facilitating hybrid meetings for each session.
- Coordinate the scheduling of disciplinary hearings and pre-hearing conferences, including coordinating with parties such as legal counsel, court reporters, and other parties as needed. The Discipline Coordinator will coordinate the sending of information packages ahead of the hearing and will provide administrative support to the hearing process as required.
- Assist with the scheduling and coordinating of resolution panel meetings, including gathering and providing file information, drafting precedent memos for review and consideration by the Legal Counsel, Discipline Manager, assisting in researching possible discipline penalties prior to the meeting (education courses, supervision periods, remedial measures, etc.), attending resolution meetings to regarding consent orders to take notes, and assisting the Legal Counsel, Discipline Manager with presenting the investigation and the disciplinary precedents to the resolution panel. The Discipline Coordinator will coordinate communication between the resolution panel and legal counsel as required.
- Coordinating the publication of discipline orders, including reviewing the orders for necessary redactions, preparing summaries of orders for publication and handling procedural steps associated with publishing and communicating the content of discipline orders to stakeholders and the public. Updating the internal tracking system as required and drafting clear and concise communications to the registrant and complainant informing of discipline order.
- Processing, organizing and tracking invoices from external parties including court reporters, legal counsel, and experts used at the discipline stage.
- Monitor discipline orders for compliance and in the event of non-compliance, take steps as directed by the Legal Counsel, Discipline Manager and the Associate Director, Investigation and Discipline.
- Maintain and update the internal software to ensure accurate tracking of discipline conditions and discipline files and to ensure accurate tracking of data related to discipline.
- Conducts investigation and discipline checks using internal systems on registrants when requested by other departments and at the direction of the Associate Director, Investigation and Discipline.
- Maintain and organize the discipline section of the Engineers and Geoscientists BC website to ensure information is up to date and accurate and suggest further updates or improvements to improve communication of discipline information to the public.
- Other duties as assigned by the Legal Counsel, Discipline Manager, the Associate Director, Investigation and Discipline, and, as appropriate members of the departmental leadership team.
What You Bring To The Table
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- A university degree is preferred.
- 2-5 years of related legal or regulatory experience.
- Prior experience working in compliance or discipline matters is an asset.
- Prior experience with a professional regulatory body or familiarity with the professions of engineering and geoscience are assets but are not required.
- Administrative and coordination skills and experience.
- Strong communication skills, including written and verbal.
- Research and analytical skills.
- Ability to uphold confidentiality and manage sensitive situations.
- Ability to manage numerous discipline files and deadlines.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $68,500 to $76,500.
