The Paint Shop Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the paint shop, including workflow scheduling, quality control, inventory management, staff supervision, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in automotive and industrial coatings, and the ability to coordinate efficiently with other departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and lead a team of painters and prep technicians.
  • Schedule, assign, and prioritize work to ensure on-time delivery and consistent quality.
  • Oversee surface preparation, priming, color matching, and finishing on heavy-duty trucks and components.
  • Manage paint materials, supplies, and inventory control.
  • Maintain paint booths, tools, and equipment in safe operating condition.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with the production and body departments to streamline workflow.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the painting process.
  • Train and mentor staff to uphold company standards and best practices.
  • Dealing with customer collision and paint requests.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a paint or refinishing supervisory role (preferably in heavy-duty truck or automotive collision repair).
  • Strong knowledge of paint systems, color matching, and refinishing techniques.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Understanding of WHMIS, PPE requirements, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of sandblasting.
  • Experience in collision, body work, Bondo, and fiberglass repair.
