KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Job summary
The Assistant Director of Talent & Culture is responsible for supporting and assisting the Director of Talent & Culture in the management of all functions of the Talent & Culture department, in accordance with hotel standards. Implements and maintains a service and management philosophy which serves as a guide to management on benefits, risk management, labour relations, talent and development, recruitment and corporate social responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily Talent & Culture operations with a primary focus on recruitment, compensation & benefits, personnel matters, associate support, and engagement initiatives.
- Provide guidance to managers on employee relations, including discipline, performance management, investigations, and complex employment matters.
- Manage and administer HR programs, including benefits, wellness, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, HRIS data management, and CSR initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation and company policies, conduct audits, maintain accurate records, and prepare required corporate and government reports.
Support departmental financial and administrative functions, including budgeting, procurement, and maintaining effective communication across the hotel.

CRITICAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and skilled in ADP Workforce Now, with strong overall computer and systems abilities.
- Up to date knowledge relating to human resources laws, best practices, and policy administration.
- Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy
- Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgement
- Follow directions thoroughly
- Understand a guest's service needs
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
- Work with minimal supervision
- Maintain confidentiality of guest and employee information and pertinent hotel data
- Knowledge of federal, provincial, local laws as well as managing in a union environment
- Ability to perform mathematical operations with units of measure including, but not limited to dollars, cents, feet, inches, cups, pounds and ounces
- Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred
- Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 20 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding
- Licenses & Certifications: workplace investigations certification is preferred
- Minimum three years Human Resources Management experience, preferably at a luxury or ultra-luxury hotel.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
