About the job

In this role, you will:

  • Develop programs and strategies that meet the ministry's objectives on protecting vulnerable workers
  • Work closely with program delivery areas across the ministry to implement vulnerable worker strategies
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend changes
  • Consult with health and safety partners to develop effective strategies and outreach programs
  • Deliver presentations to external clients on ministry core business, prevention strategies, and proposed and amended legislation
What you bring to the team
Communication and Relationship Management Skills:

You can:

  • Communicate effectively with partners and stakeholders to address issues, provide advice, and respond to inquiries, inquests, or media
  • Develop and deliver presentations to client groups
  • Prepare clear written materials, including reports, recommendations, and briefing notes
  • Apply interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict management skills to maintain strong stakeholder relationships
  • Build consensus and provide leadership, program advice, and strategic guidance
Occupational Health and Safety Knowledge:

You have:

  • Knowledge of legislation and regulations (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety Act) and applicable codes and standards.
  • Knowledge of vulnerable workers, social, economic and political considerations.
  • An understanding of the current occupational health and safety environment, client and industry groups, and trends and developments.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and provide technical advice on occupational health and safety issues.
Program Delivery Expertise:

You have:

  • Knowledge of policy and program development principles/techniques and government policy development and approval processes.
  • Knowledge of government planning process, approval structures, program performance measures, and program effectiveness criteria.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, economic theories, information systems and systems programming.
Project Management Skills:

You have

  • Project management, time management, and administrative skills, to plan, develop, and coordinate work, including developing project charters and terms of reference.
  • Ability to lead or participate in complex project management assignments which are high profile and sensitive/contentious.
Research and Analytical Skills:
  • You have strong research and analytical skills to conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis, environmental scans, interpret and analyze data and develop recommendations to support program delivery.
