Junior Project Manager/Mechanical Coordinator

Southland Holdings is currently accepting resumes for highly motivated civil construction professionals to join our team as a Mechanical Coordinator/Junior Project Manager
The Mechanical Coordinator/Junior Project Manager is responsible for the coordination of design, procurement and coordination of the installation of mechanical systems in wastewater treatment facilities in support of Mechanical Project Manager. This role interfaces with designers, procurement specialists, subcontractors, suppliers and our craft field supervision through the life of each project.
Duties:Review and manage the design interpretation in terms of construction budgets. Perform, or arrange for, reviews of existing installation and interprets/manages the impact on the project.Develop or assist with internal and external requests for information to develop accurate understanding of system installation or operation to facilitate construction.Ensure proper coordination of documents with the internal and external project team (designers, suppliers, client and other trade disciplines).Responsible for contributing to or reviewing all deliverables for the project whether internal reports, calculations, drawings, or/and specifications. Review for completeness as defined by our internal total quality management.Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes.Assist with the timely completion of contract administration activities for project.
Ensure that shop drawing review process takes place within project timelines.Coordinate with the team regarding drawing reviews, procurement processes and site installation activities.Manage change in our supply chain and with our subcontractors.Responsible for ensuring tasks are completed both accurately and with the assigned hours/fee.Assist with the response to both technical and financial queries related to the project.Keep the Mechanical Project Manager advised of all changes in scope of work and prepare amendments to the applicable contract.Support the process of accounts receivable, including receiving inspections, and document reviews.Liaise with external consultants, suppliers, vendors as required to ensure smooth project delivery.
Attend internal planning meetings.Assist with commissioning support, including working with vendors and suppliers to demonstrate compliance with contract terms, and documentation to support this process.Ability to travel in support of other projects in Canada and the USA considered beneficial.Qualifications:Possess five or more years of project engineering experience in the field of mechanical building and industrial piping services.Possess current P.Eng. or be able to qualify within one year. A senior C.E.T. with equivalent experience and abilities will also be considered.Advanced working knowledge of the provincial building code, ASHRAE, CSA, ASME, and NFPA standards.Fully understands Codes and Standards relevant for the project and is able to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities having Jurisdiction.Fully understands (construction) project procurement methodologies and is able to recommend or apply such method for the project.'Ability to coordinate and plan sequences of work individually and as part of a team, providing input and contributing to the project planning and coordination of work frontsDemonstrate a strong leadership qualities and ability to work independently.Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple projects.Possess sound communications skills.Demonstrate experience working with consultants, suppliers and subcontractors, and coordination of major projects.Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.Ability to work digitally in a 3D model environment, utilizing online tools and documentation.Familiarity with project scheduling tools, such as Last Planner System is preferred.Familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud is preferred.Compensation:Minimum 50-hour work week, Monday to Friday, and infrequently, weekends$90 000 to $ per yearFor more than 120 years, hard-working, honest, innovative people have been building what has become SOUTHLAND HOLDINGS.
