Responsibilities 

The data-oriented testing of running shoes is performed by a different role. The primary responsibility of the Staff Writer is to use the results from testing to understand how a product performs and where it fits in the market, and to communicate this understanding through various types of work: 

• Write and update buying recommendations (example) 
• Write and update product reviews (example) and comparisons between products (example)  
• Write scripts for videos that review products, compare products, or recommend products to buy (example)  
• Interact with our community and answer questions (example)  

Personality  

• You love to run and understand the performance aspects of athletic footwear; You must be able to understand, describe and differentiate running shoes. 
• You love doing research and comparing products. You typically spend weeks researching before buying something. 
• You like helping people. The whole purpose of our website is to help people find the best product for them.  
• Keep up to date with the market news, discussions and opinions surrounding running shoes and equipment  

Qualification/Experience  

• Strong English communication & writing skills
• Strong analytical skills 
• Fast learner 
• Previous experience writing product reviews and/or working in retail/sales is a bonus  

*We're open to hiring either an entry-level candidate, or one with more experience as follows:

Writer I
Entry level position, but other levels can be achieved within two years of employment.  
Salary range: $52-$57k 

• Less than two years of professional and writing experience  
• You are a runner
• You are familiar with the running shoe market  
• You are interested in learning how to write for different intended audiences and grow into Writer Level II  

Writer II
Note: Further advancement exists beyond this role.  
Salary range: $62-$85k 

• More than two years of professional writing experience  
• Deep interest and technical understanding of running shoes and their material 
• You participate in various hobbyist communities like subreddits and Discord channels related to running and running gear

Senior 
There is also a potential career path in management after Writer II, becoming a Team Lead, which is a different role that we hiring for. 
Salary range: $80-105k 

• You are a recognized voice in running communities. 
• You have a deep technical understanding about different shoe design and their related running intent. 
• You have a significant shoe rotation  
• You have written shoe reviews in the past  
• You have leadership/management experience
