What You Will Do

The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for routine maintenance, repairs, and site upkeep across our commercial and industrial properties. This role ensures buildings, equipment, and grounds remain safe, clean, functional, and compliant with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

General Maintenance

  • Perform routine repairs to building systems, fixtures, and equipment (plumbing, lighting, doors, HVAC filters, etc.)
  • Conduct regular inspections of facilities, interior and exterior areas, and grounds
  • Respond to maintenance requests and work orders in a timely manner
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow clearing, salting, and landscape upkeep
  • Maintain and organize tools, parts, and supplies
  • Assist with minor carpentry, patching, painting, and fixture replacements
  • Support contractor/vendor access and supervision when required

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all workplace safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Ensure all work complies with WorkSafeBC, fire code, and building regulations
  • Identify, report, and correct safety hazards or equipment issues
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, safety checks, and inspections
  • Participate in safety meetings, training, and emergency updates
  • Handle materials responsibly, including recycling and hazardous waste disposal

Company Vehicle Use

  • Operate company vehicles safely and responsibly
  • Perform routine vehicle checks (tires, fluids, lights, cleanliness, etc.)
  • Report any damage, incidents, or mechanical issues immediately
  • Use vehicles only for authorized company purposes

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in general maintenance, facilities, building operations, or trades
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all seasons
  • Valid BC driver's license with clean driving record

Desirable Assets

  • Experience maintaining commercial, industrial, or multi-site facilities
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and WorkSafeBC requirements
  • Basic understanding of HVAC, electrical panels, and low-voltage systems
  • Previous experience in construction, property management, or facilities roles
  • Ability to read basic technical diagrams or vendor manuals

Working Conditions

  • On-site role based in Kamloops, BC
  • Indoor and outdoor work, year-round
  • May require occasional evening or weekend work for urgent repairs
  • Exposure to noise, dust, tools, and weather conditions
  • Safety gear and training provided
