What You'll Build
Advanced NLP Systems: Develop sophisticated natural language processing models to extract insights from unstructured data, rich documents, and threat intelligence

LLM/RAG Integration: Build retrieval-augmented generation systems that provide contextually-aware security recommendations and automated compliance guidance

Knowledge Graph Architecture: Design and implement dynamic knowledge graphs that map complex relationships between security entities, vulnerabilities, and compliance frameworks

Real-Time AI Pipelines: Create scalable ML infrastructure that processes security data streams and delivers actionable intelligence

Role Overview
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our growing team. As a key member of their AI & Data Science practice, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our data infrastructure and pipelines, with a strong focus on security, automation and ethical AI practices. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to significantly impact the success of our business by driving data-driven decisions and enabling innovative AI/ML model development for advanced risk management.

This is initially an equity-only, 100% remote, part-time role (8-10 hours, flexible), and you'll be joining a high-performing, innovative and international team.

Responsibilities:
AI Innovation Leadership

  • Architect and deploy production-grade NLP models for security document analysis and threat detection
  • Build sophisticated knowledge graphs connecting security assets, vulnerabilities, and regulatory requirements
  • Implement advanced LLM/RAG systems for intelligent security advisory capabilities

Technical Excellence

  • Design robust MLOps pipelines ensuring model reliability and continuous improvement
  • Optimise model performance for real-time cyber risk applications
  • Collaborate with security experts to translate domain knowledge into AI solutions

Strategic Impact

  • Shape our client's AI roadmap and contribute to our unique competitive advantages
  • Research emerging AI techniques applicable to cybersecurity and compliance
  • Drive technical decisions that will scale with our rapid growth

What They're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Mathematics, or related technical field
  • 5+ years building production AI/ML systems, preferably in security/compliance/fintech domains
  • Deep expertise in NLP frameworks (spaCy, Hugging Face, OpenAI APIs)
  • Proven experience with knowledge graph technologies (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, or similar)
  • Strong background in LLM/RAG implementation and optimisation
  • Production experience with Python, PyTorch/TensorFlow, MLOps, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)

Cybersecurity DNA

  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, DORA, OWASP)
  • Experience with security data formats and threat intelligence
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements and risk assessment methodologies
