RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the incumbent is responsible for the delivery of recreation programs and Special Event opportunities offered through the Community Services Department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, coordinating, creating, and delivering recreation programs including annual day camps. Additionally, this position will be responsible for planning and facilitating City hosted Special Events, developing partnerships by identifying gaps in the community and creating opportunities with groups to develop programs and /or events that will showcase the diversity, creativity and spirit of the citizens of Yellowknife by bringing people together.
QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires related program and special event planning training gained through the completion of a post-secondary diploma in recreation, event planning, or a related field. A minimum of two years' work experience in program coordination, event management, or a related field is required. A valid N.W.T. Driver's license is also required.
The incumbent must have proficiency in MS Office suite including Excel, PowerPointWord and be able to demonstrate creativity and innovation to keep the programs on trend and peak community interest. The incumbent is required to possess strong communication, organization, and public relations/customer service skills.
SALARY:
The City of Yellowknife offers a starting salary of $92,618 per annum as well as a comprehensive benefits package including a defined benefit pension plan, and monthly housing and vacation travel allowances totaling $450.
