EXP is currently searching for a Director, Civil / Land Development in the GTA area. The environment is fast-paced and growth oriented, ideally suited for individuals who like to manage and grow business; develop client relationships; Someone with a strong professional background in civil engineering driven to build on current successes.

EXP's Central Ontario Infrastructure Group are industry leaders in the design and project management of residential, industrial, commercial (Petroleum), transit, and institutional development projects offering a full range of engineering investigations, consulting, construction administration, inspection, program and project management services for private clients, municipal provincial and federal agencies.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Business Development: 

  • Under the guidance of the Senior Director of Land Development, manage business development across Southern Ontario, taking on the role of overall client manager.
  • Lead profitable projects, executing a strategic business development plan while maintaining strong relationships with both existing and new clients.
  • Collaborate with internal EXP teams across disciplines, focusing on a cohesive "One EXP" approach.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with clients from various sectors, including public and private entities, architecture, planning, and government agencies at municipal, provincial, and federal levels.
  • Oversee the acquisition of necessary approvals and permits for projects, ensuring compliance with local, provincial (Ontario), and federal regulations.
  • Lead a team of Civil Project Managers, tracking and enhancing proposal success throughout the process.

Project Management: 

  • Take full ownership of the successful delivery of medium to large-scale land development and infrastructure projects, overseeing all stages from planning and design to approvals, construction, and maintenance.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and schedule, ensuring projects (with values up to $100 million) are completed on time and within budget.
  • Foster a strong team environment, maintaining a commitment to quality and timely delivery of projects.
  • Apply strong civil design knowledge, working closely with the senior design team to ensure smooth execution of the design, tendering, contract administration, field inspections, and post-construction phases.
  • Facilitate coordination and meetings with stakeholders such as clients, contractors, approving agencies, planners, other consultants, and residents to meet project objectives. 
  • Supervise a multidisciplinary project team, including design engineers, drafters, surveyors, field supervisors, and inspectors, as part of EXP's comprehensive service delivery model

What your experience looks like

  • A degree in engineering is required.
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) designation preferred, though candidates with proven experience or R.E.T. or C.E.T. status will be considered.
  • A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in civil engineering and land development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in civil design, including stormwater management, with a solid foundation in Quality Assurance and Quality Control practices.
  • Proven track record in personnel management, business development, client management, project delivery, and client satisfaction.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, particularly Civil 3D, is an asset.
  • Experience in preparing contract documents, specifications, and contract administration.
