Director of Production

We're looking for a Director of Production to join our team In this key leadership role, you'll leverage a wealth of knowledge to establish better production practices, drive overall team mentorship, and ensure successful execution across projects. You'll be a vital partner, collaborating across all disciplines, feature groups, and with the Strategic Leaders of the company.
This role is a full-time, on-site position based 5 days a week at our Downtown Vancouver studio.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Lead and develop, establish, and enhance best-practice production methodologies and tools across the studio
- Balance product and team health to maximize business outcomes
- Oversee both project management and production disciplines within the team
- Lead headcount annual planning for the studio
- Business Acumen & Leadership
- Anticipate business issues to align operational priorities and allocate resources
- Remain current on competitor products, industry trends and techniques in game design
- Mentor the entire Production staff and serves as the primary advocate of the end customer
- Champion the Production discipline at the studio level and is active in building and leading the Production team
- Regularly participate in 1:1s with employees, as well as in the staffing, recruitment, onboarding and performance review processes throughout the year.
- Problem Solving and Decision Making
- Work on issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives. Implements strategic policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Establish and assure adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Define problems and empower teams to figure out their own solutions.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Collaborate with People Business Partners, Resource Management Office, and Finance teams to take primary responsibility for studio resource planning
- Foster a respectful work environment through encouraging collaboration and appreciation of diversity through all levels of the organization; be able to change the thinking of, or gain acceptance from, others in sensitive situations, without damage to the relationship.
- Communicate in a clear, concise and professional manner with all levels of internal staff and external technology partners as applicable.
- Act as a connector, linking senior leadership to employees through open communication to ensure all parties remain informed by appropriately communicating down organization information and rolling up feedback from the team.
- Influence Kabam Worldwide and external groups to achieve studio goals; achieves studio consent and buy-in.
- Effectively communicate timely feedback and feedforward to support the growth of your employees.
- Leadership
- Owner of the entire Production team; member of game leads group and studio senior leadership.
- Align staffing and budgeting to strategic planning, capturing short and long term objectives
- Manage activities of two or more sections or functions through a team of producers. Recommend, champion and implement organizational changes.
- Resource Management
- Be responsible for the development and headcount budget for the game
- Be responsible for allocating resources to different functional areas of the game
- Bachelor's Degree or greater; specialized designation in either project management, team leadership, production or other relevant discipline.
- A strong understanding of technologies associated with game development and production (capabilities and limitations)
- 10+ years in gaming or entertainment production, with 5+ years in a leadership role, in a mid or large sized organization
- 7+ years in a product development role
- Shipped at least one game through product development cycle
- Direct experience producing all major game phases (e.g. concept, pre-production, production, live production). Experience producing live production
- A transformative leadership style, seeks to grow and mentor their teams, not simply manage them
- Experience of growing a healthy and successful delivery team in video games, software, technology, or a similar field.
- Strong written and oral communication skills paired with solid presentation and public speaking skills.
