Location: Remote – Canada (Quarterly onsite meetings in Edmonton, AB)
Duration: 6 Months (November 1, 2025 – April 30, 2026, with possible 6-month extension)

Pay Structure: $CA per hour.
Job Description:
We're seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Analyst to support strategic data initiatives focused on enhancing data governance, collaboration, and evidence-based decision-making within the public sector.
The successful candidate will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining data analytics solutions and visualizations, transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that drive strategic outcomes. This role blends analytical expertise, business acumen, and storytelling to support decision-makers across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities:
· Translate business requirements into analytical and reporting solutions
· Design and develop dashboards, reports, and KPIs using Power BI and other BI tools
· Perform data modeling, data mining, and statistical analysis to uncover trends and insights
· Develop and document data products, data models, and metadata
· Conduct data quality audits and ensure data integrity and governance compliance
· Integrate qualitative and quantitative data to support business planning and performance tracking
· Build and maintain complex DAX measures, calculated columns, and visual analytics
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams to enhance BI capabilities
· Document client requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions
· Identify risks, escalate issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field (equivalencies considered)
· 5+ years developing analytical and BI solutions using Power BI
· 5+ years designing and optimizing dashboards, reports, and complex data models
· 5+ years experience building DAX measures, Power Query transformations, and visual storytelling dashboards
· 5+ years analyzing large, complex datasets and presenting insights to stakeholders
· Proven ability to translate business needs into data-driven insights and KPIs
· Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging both technical and business audiences
Nice to Have Skills:
· Experience building or maintaining data products in a cloud environment
· Strong SQL skills for data transformation and analysis
· Experience combining data from multiple sources and domains
· Familiarity with large public-sector datasets or data governance frameworks
· Experience developing executive-level dashboards and visual storytelling products
· Excellent stakeholder management and consultative skills
Additional Details:
· Equipment: Must provide own computer compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) (Windows preferred)
· Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM (Alberta Time)
· Background Check: Standard criminal record check required before engagement
· Training: Mandatory compliance and security awareness courses required after onboarding
