Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Head of Materials Management; the incumbent's primary focus is to manage and improve supply chain related operations (warehousing, shipping, receiving, manufacturing material support) for Ottawa. This position combines daily tactical management with longer term focus on improving supply chain operations.
Responsibilities:
Tactical Operations:
- Manages, trains and motivates warehouse, shipping, receiving and production support personnel (7-9 persons, full-time & contract).
- Supervises the preparation of inter-plant and external outbound shipments, with major focus on correct export control related documentation and filings.
- Supervises receiving and warehouse (picking, putaway, cycle count, 5S) operations.
- Manages adherence of the Brookfield warehouse to OHSA safety and ISO program requirements. Maintains team training and qualification requirements.
- Works closely with the Production Planning and Operations groups to ensure sufficient and timely material supply to the manufacturing operations.
- Interacts daily with employees, supervisors and managers of other related operations (i.e. Quality Control, Operations, Finance).
- Ensure that the warehouse is organized and maintains efficiency and accuracy of storage, including compliant labeling and quarantining in alignment with the expectations of a regulator of medical device manufacturing or pharmaceuticals.
- Oversee the safe transport and storage of materials in accordance with their requirements for refrigeration, freezing, flammability, temperature/humidity, electrostatic or other material needs.
- Manage the inventory of materials in accordance with operational needs and following a risk-based approach.
- Manage inventory counting and ensure robust adherence to cycle count schedules.
Operational/Strategic Focus:
- Manage shipping service providers and monitor performance for reliability and cost.
- Establish and maintain robust and compliant shipping and receiving procedures, in accordance with the Quality Management System.
- Ensure that shipping procedures and practices for domestic and international shipments that are compliant with export control, customs, dangerous goods and other legal declaration requirements.
- Develop procedures and practices to ensure that material tracking within storage supports FIFO delivery of raw materials, or as otherwise needed by Manufacturing.
- Ensure that the warehouse and its services are always audit-ready.
- Maintain adherence to Siemens standards for accuracy in cycle counting and track inventory control KPI's for performance
- Maintain an awareness of and comply with the company's Program for legal compliance and corporate responsibility.
- Support contract reviews and liaise with legal partners to ensure due diligence is applied to contracts signed by POC Ottawa.
- Assess risk and internal controls (RIC) for corporate circulars relevant to the Ottawa site.
- Act as Ottawa site contract coordinator in alignment with corporate directives.
- Develop a roadmap to prepare logistics operations for expected large medium-term (2-4 years) step growth in throughput volume.
- Conception and implementation of advanced logistics techniques, systems, procedures and methods to improve the overall inventory accuracy and operational productivity.
- Actively support site leadership and other departments in cross-functional projects.
- Develop and support career development paths for direct reports with growth potential.
Additionally:
- Maintain an efficient operation of Shipping, Receiving and Warehouse operations under fluctuating daily and weekly workloads.
- KPI improvement in the flow of materials, productivity and inventory accuracy.
- Cope with changing external regulatory requirements, such as: ISO, Transport Canada (TC), Customs and OHSA regulations.

- Hands on support of manual operations, when needed
- Ability to distinguish between colours
- Able to lift up to 50lb
- Constant walking throughout the work day
- Occasional weekend support
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelors degree (4 years) in business related field is required. Masters degree would be a strong Plus.
- Industry recognized certification (i.e. CPIM, CSCM) in business or supply chain management, in combination with a college diploma (3 year), would be considered equivalent.
- Experience:
- Strong knowledge of standard industry inventory, cycle count, and material/logistics management concepts, such as APICS.
- 8-10 years of managing or working directly in a warehouse or similar operation is desired
- Experience in a regulated environment (e.g. medical devices, pharma).
- Ability to communicate intelligently, written and orally with all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of integrated ERP systems. Experience with SAP would be a Plus, but is not required.
- Organizational skills to coordinate and support all phases of the operation
- Ability to recommend and advertise advantageous operational changes to upper management
- Basic understanding of relevant OHSA, ISO, FDA, Customs and TC regulations. Additional training can be provided where needed.
- Skilled in project management and managing change
- Skilled in team improving behaviors and staff development. Prior management of direct reports is desired.
- Displays uncompromising dedication to employee health and safety
- Forklift training would be beneficial, but is not a pre-requisite

The base pay range for this position is:
Min $81,000 - Max $131,000
Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Siemens Healthineers offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay.
