Snowflake Data Platform Administrator – AWS & Terraform

Opportunity for a seasoned cloud data specialist in the insurance industry, focused on Snowflake administration, AWS integration, and PostgreSQL management. Drive high-impact digital transformation and cloud migration initiatives in a hybrid setup based in Markham, ON. Ideal for those with strong cloud optimization and automation skills.

What is in it for you:


• Salaried: $85-90 per hour.

• Incorporated Business Rate: $ per hour.

• 12-month contract.

• Full-time position: 37.50 hours per week.

• Hybrid model: 3 days per week on-site, subject to change.

Responsibilities:


• Administer and manage a Snowflake cloud data platform, ensuring performance, security, and availability.

• Design, implement, and optimize Snowflake solutions including data warehousing, integration, and migration.

• Monitor and fine-tune environments using query optimization, workload management, and resource scaling.

• Apply cost-saving strategies such as right-sizing virtual warehouses and consolidating workloads.

• Integrate cloud services using AWS components like S3, Glue, Lambda, Airflow, EC2, and SNS.

• Develop and maintain automated data pipelines across Snowflake and AWS environments.

• Manage PostgreSQL databases including backups, performance tuning, and recovery processes.

• Implement security protocols and automation scripts for efficient database operations.

• Lead on-premise to cloud migration projects with minimal downtime and full data integrity.

• Enhance system performance using advanced Snowflake features like query acceleration and clustering.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in analytics, engineering, and IT to align data strategy.

• Provide support and participate in on-call rotations for critical systems.

• Maintain documentation covering configurations, processes, and system best practices.

• Promote adherence to data governance, security, and compliance standards.

What you will need to succeed:


• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

• Certification in Snowflake, AWS, or PostgreSQL (preferred).

• 5+ years of experience as a Snowflake Administrator.

• Proven experience in Snowflake implementation and cloud data operations.

• Strong knowledge of AWS services including S3, Lambda, Glue, Airflow, and EC2.

• Proficiency in PostgreSQL database administration and automation.

• Experience in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and Terraform.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

• Flexibility to work extended hours as needed for project deadlines.
