Carrier Compliance and Relations Specialist
to join our team in Montreal This role focuses on the growth and development of the carrier portfolio, and is responsible for managing the day-to-day relationships with their assigned carriers and the prospecting and onboarding of new carriers.

Responsibilities:

  • Proven track record in sourcing, selecting and managing carriers in the US and Canada.
  • Research and qualify new carriers based on asset size, modes and regions covered.
  • Responsible for carrier on-boarding (fill out and digitally house new carrier packets and request certificate holders with our Insurance company if needed).
  • Is focused on developing alternative capacity such as drop trailer, dedicated capacity and multi-leg movements as well as traditional coverage.
  • Develops a deep understanding of carrier's business, goals, preferences, capabilities, equipment and expertise to maximize the relationship, capacity utilization and carrier satisfaction.
  • Uses expertise and knowledge of the market and carrier preferences to source and provide capacity in both contractual and spot market environments.
  • Provides day to day problem resolution; identifies issues, determines the best course of action and implements solutions. Works closely with internal partners (account management, operations or leadership) on shipment updates, problem resolution and/or operational execution.
  • Develops a diversified carrier portfolio. Maintains and grows relationships through regular phone calls, emails and/or face to face visits.
  • Participates in and/or leads carrier account reviews either independently or with collaboration from their manager; evaluates current and future business needs, discusses recent wins/losses and identifies opportunities for additional business.
  • Establishes contacts and builds relationships to form an internal network of resources comprised of commercial team members, service line partners, and operations teams.
  • Process and KPI driven approach to selecting and managing carriers.
  • Effective in negotiating both spot and contract pricing.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will also have at least two (2) years of proven 3PL work experience in a fast-paced, transportation purchasing related role. This role may require occasional travel within Canada and the US.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills, in fluent English and French (other languages considered an asset).
  • Service-oriented disposition; takes action and makes decisions in the best interests of the customer and carrier.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high energy environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organization and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including all Microsoft Office applications.
