Knowledgeable of Winnipeg city courier routes? Enjoy a fast paced work environment? This role might be for you We're looking for a dispatcher to join our Winnipeg main branch team, focusing on dispatching courier sized vehicles.

You will ensure effective, accurate, and cost efficient pick-up and delivery service to/from the Winnipeg Maxim facilities, customers, suppliers, and other branch locations. You will also assist Shipper Receivers with picking parts and associated paperwork to ensure customer satisfaction and controlled expenses.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This is a unionized environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare delivery and pick-up information for drivers and organizing material for pick up
  • Recording freight information and send to Accounts Payable for processing (i.e. Customer name, bill of lading, invoice number, payment option)
  • Delegates order fulfillment tasks to Shipper Receivers and Order Pickers
  • Aids other warehouse staff to pick orders when needed and creates invoices
  • Creates paperwork for parts shipped to customers i.e. waybills
  • Receives product as required
  • Act as primary point of contact for customers; answers internal and external inquiries regarding shipments and driver runs
  • Tracks missing or delayed shipments

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 2 years' experience as a Winnipeg commercial courier is preferred
  • 1 to 2 years' experience in a fast paced work environment
  • Knowledge of Winnipeg courier routes
  • Willingness to train on Forklift (in house training)
  • Valid class 5 driver's license required
  • City dispatch experience in a retail environment requiring constant scheduling changes preferred
  • Experience in a parts department dispatch function preferred
  • Experience in a warehouse, picking and assembling orders preferred
  • Knowledge of Heavy-duty truck and trailer parts an asset
  • Team player with strong commitment to the customer
  • Ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of people

  • Makes timely, accurate decisions
  • Ability to work with interruptions
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Basic computer skills with ability to learn in-house systems
