The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Coordinator, Events this role is responsible for effectively delivering, administering and supervising various initiatives and events while promoting access and equitable opportunities for residents. The Programmer provides supervision to volunteers, contract and part time staff and coordinates and oversees various events and community engagement initiatives while ensuring customer satisfaction and safety.

  • Assist in the planning, development and implementation of a variety of community events, programs, services and initiatives, including diverse, equitable and inclusive opportunities.
  • Assist with the coordination and support of community-led events through the Caledon Events Advisory Team (CEAT), ensuring compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Liaise and represent the Town of Caledon while working with Community partners, community organizations, non-profit organizations, schools, businesses and the general community.
  • Assist in the implementation of policies, procedures and programs that support the delivery of corporate, recreation and community events.
  • Respond to emergencies, customer inquiries and complaints, and ensure a positive relationship between the public, outside agencies and internal staff at all times.
  • Support town and community events as required to ensure service excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and facilitate training for event volunteers and staff, including collaboration with relevant parties to ensure a comprehensive training program.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate volunteers in collaboration with the Coordinators.
  • Support various event committees, including logistic support to community led events.
  • Oversee and responsibly track operation expenditures and expenses for events and initiatives.
  • Maintain responsibility for assigned duties within the departmental and/or corporate Business Continuity Plan.
  • Participate in all mandatory training requirements.
  • Be responsible for complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, the Town of Caledon's Policies and Procedures, and established industry guidelines, and for ensuring that all supervised staff are also in compliance.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional with a post-secondary diploma or degree in Event Management, Recreation Services, or a closely related field. Our ideal candidate brings a minimum of 2 years of experience in an event setting, demonstrating strong organizational and coordination skills.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional customer service abilities that reflect Caledon's quality standards, accurate, courteous, responsive, and easy to navigate. They will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to obtain, exchange, and share information effectively in a professional manner.

We are looking for an individual who demonstrates initiative, professionalism, and teamwork, while maintaining composure in dynamic event environments. The ideal candidate is adaptable, efficient under pressure, and committed to delivering high-quality service to residents, vendors, and stakeholders.

This position offers an hourly wage range of $36.95 to $46.19 CAD.

Satisfactory passing of a vulnerable sector check, and proof of qualifications will be required of any successful candidate(s) for this position.
