Duties & Responsibilities

  • Circle of Care
  • Provide individual, group, and family counselling for children and youth

Program

  • Support planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of child and youth mental health initiatives
  • Incorporate Indigenous cultural teachings, Elders, and traditional healers in program delivery where appropriate
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and program evaluations
  • Assist in coordinating services with other units and community partners

Administration

  • Maintain accurate and timely client records and case notes
  • Compile program data for reporting and evaluation purposes
  • Provide administrative support to the Unit Supervisor as needed
  • Deliver crisis intervention and short-term counselling as needed
  • Develop and monitor wellness plans in collaboration with clients, families, and care providers
  • Conduct outreach and follow-up with children, youth, and families to ensure continuity of care
  • Liaise with schools, hospitals, and community agencies to support clients' needs
  • Ensure services are provided in compliance with confidentiality policies and relevant legislation (e.g., PHIPA, CYFSA)

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BSW/MSW, Counselling Psychology, or equivalent training and experience in child and youth mental health
  • An understanding of the social determinants of health and other issues relevant to indigenous communities in Toronto; respect for Traditional healing
  • Registration with a recognized professional college (e.g., OCSWSSW, CRPO)
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, youth, and families in mental health settings
  • Knowledge of culturally safe, trauma-informed, and client-centered interventions
  • Strong interpersonal, advocacy, collaboration, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working with Indigenous children, youth, and families, and knowledge of Indigenous determinants of health
