Assistant Site Supervisor

Nature & Scope:
The Assistant Site Supervisor is primarily responsible for adhering to generally accepted building practices to successfully delivery each house built while ensuring a safe working environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Oversees and ensures the timely and quality construction of each house built in an effort to maximize homeowner's satisfaction. Accountable for managing the construction of assigned homes from foundation excavation to 30-day warranty service requests and sign off.
- Ensures compliance with local, provincial and federal requirements (OBC, OHSA, MOL, WSIB)
- Ensures compliance with the organization's policies and procedures including but not limited to health & safety, customer service and human resource policies.
- Monitors daily trade and employee functions: timeliness, quality of workmanship and completion of work.
- Responsible for site staff including, but not limited to staff safety, training, delegation of work, disciplinary actions, monitoring productivity and quality standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Walks all assigned homes on a daily basis to ensure all imperfections are noted, Building Code and OHSA and Construction Regs are adhered to.
- Provides leadership, instruction and supervision to all construction workers, including site staff, contractors and suppliers as well as to visitors on the jobsite.
- Responsible for the care and maintenance of all company owned/rented equipment including vehicles, tools and office equipment.
- Maintains proper stock of Site Materials (e.g. rebar, tile, trailer stock)
- Ensures the state of the site is maintained in a fashion that homeowners living on site are content.
- Participates in company interviews regarding new employee hiring on site.
- Ensures compliance with all reporting procedures including but not limited to, construction schedule reporting, quality assurance reporting, health & safety reporting, accident reporting, tools/equipment reporting and staff reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned
The Assistant Site Supervisor is also responsible for the following:
- Generate, distribute PO's and Plans to Trades/Suppliers
- Issue Variance PO's for materials missed on or above original PO.
- Books all inspections – Township/Surveyors… etc.
- Inspects/books and follow ups with Tarion 30 Day lists.
Knowledge & Education:
- Secondary School Diploma
- 5 years' experience in the field of residential construction
- Valid driver's license
- OHSIA Basics of Supervising, WHMIS, Fall Protection and Propane trained with valid record of training
Experience & Skills:
- Extensive knowledge in new residential construction and its principles including industry best practices.
- Strong technical skills
- Proven track record of effective leadership/supervisory skills. Ability to motivate teams and produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.
- Professional, mature individual with strong customer service skills and proven interpersonal skills
Effort:
- Work normally requires a medium level of physical effort
- Work normally requires a high level of mental effort in planning, organizing, meeting deadlines, handling multiple demands on repetitive tasks amid constant interruptions and distractions and resolving problems
- Work normally requires a moderate level of visual effort in operating PC's and other office equipment and motorized tools/equipment.
Working Conditions without a Site Administrator:
- Works in outdoor environment 30% of the time.
- Office environment 45% of the time
- Working from vehicle and travel 25% of the time.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 44 per week
