Reporting to the Industrial Safety Superintendent, the Industrial Safety Coordinator will oversee the development and implementation of policies established by the Company. He or she will suggest and implement practices that promote the protection of individuals, the physical integrity of facilities, and the prevention of material losses. He or she will supervise the team of security agents. Will work a 14-14 schedule at the Windfall site located 115 km east of Lebel-sur-Quévillon, in the Nord-du-Québec region. Transportation, accommodation, and meals provided. 
Duties and responsibilities
  • Develop typical security requirements for a mining site and implement the various necessary frameworks;
  • Gradually implement the necessary technological elements and mechanisms related to the protection of facilities and the prevention of loss and damage to company property;
  • Develop mechanisms to protect individuals and facilities within the organization, as well as its property (search procedures, video surveillance, scanning, X-rays, and metal detection—knives, unsafe work knives, visible gold, etc.);
  • Monitor speed limits and road safety prevention in the territory;
  • Supervise, support, and coach security agents; 
  • Develop, coordinate, implement, and contribute to industrial security training plans and programs;
  • Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property comply with industrial security policies and requirements;
  • Report any situation that could affect the health and safety of personnel and the physical integrity of the facilities;
  • Manage administrative aspects related to security officers (recruitment, schedules, supplier relations, summons, etc.);
  • Comply with health, safety, and environmental policies and rules at all times and ensure that all personnel under your supervision comply with these rules;
  • Collaborate in the development of the budget for your sector;
  • Maintain information classification systems related to security;
  • Collaborate with external parties (civil services);
  • Assume certain duties or responsibilities of the emergency measures coordinator in his or her absence;
  • Comply at all times with occupational health and safety and environmental policies and rules and ensure that staff comply with these rules;
  • Perform any other tasks related to the position of industrial safety coordinator that are relevant to the success of the project.
Required qualifications
  • (DEC) in police techniques or equivalent training acquired in Canada (provincial or federal organization).
  • Have 8 to 12 years of experience; 
  • Have held a supervisory role (an asset);
  • Bilingualism (French and English) (will be required to communicate with English-speaking consultants and suppliers);
  • Possess a valid Class 4A driver's license;
  • Hold an explosives license;
  • First responder (an asset).
Technical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of the Criminal Code;
  • Possess advanced knowledge of investigations (alcohol, weapons, drugs, vandalism, theft);
  • High level of proficiency with security-related technology;
  • Ability to deliver specialized training (an asset).

Basic skills

  • Work as part of a team through collaboration, information sharing, and effective communication;
  • Possess good organizational, planning, and priority management skills;
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills;
  • Be able to work independently with minimal supervision, under pressure during events, and demonstrate a high sense of responsibility and a very high level of confidentiality and discretion;
  • Be able to work in remote locations.
