Childcare Custodian

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and orderly childcare centre including classrooms, bathrooms and kitchen
• Daily cleaning duties such as vacuuming, sweeping, mopping
• Heavy cleaning duties such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls/mirrors and removing garbage
• Seasonal, routine maintenance activities such as leaf pick up, salting the side walk, cleaning snow or debris from the sidewalk
• General maintenance including mechanical equipment and kitchen equipment
• Complete maintenance and repair logs, complete daily health and safety checks and notify management of any need for repairs
• Build materials, put together shelves, toys and boards as requested
• Steam chairs and carpets once a week
• Attend and participate in health and safety meetings
• Requisition of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time

Specifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Organized and punctual
• Strong collaboration skills and a team player
• Proactive in matters relating to health and safety
• Comfortable working with various cleaning materials such as bleach

Qualifications

• Ability to lift up to 40lbs
• Valid Standard (Infant/Child) First Aid and CPR Level C
• Health and Safety Certificate
• Shift 6:00am-3:00pm (Monday-Friday)
• Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal reference check (within the last six months)

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
