Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure Planning, this senior level planner position will be responsible for representing the Division's land interests with external partners.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- represent the Division's land interests to the City of Edmonton, the Province, and the private sector in reviewing proposed development plans, planning policies and legislation
- review land development proposals, within the City of Edmonton, and develop Division position regarding land needs, compatibility of adjacent land uses, vehicular and pedestrian accessibility and site conditions
- ensure that the City plans for, designs, acquires, develops, and delivers school sites that meet the Division's needs
- participate in school land policy analysis, review, and partnerships
- participate in the Division's Three-Year Capital Plan and Ten Year Facilities Plan as required by the Provincial Government
- identify priorities for new school construction and modernization and prepare information for submission into the Provincial system
- liaise and coordinate leadership related to the Joint Use Agreement: Land on behealf of the Division
- prepare recommendations for the Board of Trustees in relation to the Three-year Capital Plan
- work with schools regarding traffic concerns and advocate with the City for improvements
Education/Qualifications
- an undergraduate degree in Urban Planning, Human Geography or Environmental Design
- Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation, or eligibility and willingness to obtain
- a minimum of 3 years related experience including private, municipal, school division or other government agency.
- knowledge of statutory planning, land use bylaws.
- familiarity with the Municipal Government Act (MGA), Education Act, Real Properties Governance Act and related policies.
- excellent communication, collaboration and negotiation skills
Rate of Pay
$ $67.17 per hour
