Collections Analyst

Position Summary
The Collections Analyst plays a key role in maintaining healthy cash flow by overseeing accounts receivable, tracking overdue accounts, and ensuring prompt payment collection. This position blends analytical precision with strong communication, collaboration, and relationship-building skills, working closely with both internal teams and customers to resolve issues and keep operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Monitor customer accounts and identify overdue invoices.
- Initiate and conduct collection communications via email and phone on aged receivables, acting as the primary liaison between customers and Operations for issue resolution and dispute handling to maintain accounts in good standing.
- Identify and manage risks within the collection portfolio to minimize bad debt exposure.
- Maintain accurate records of all collection activities in the system.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to payments and invoices.
- Process credit card payments as necessary and in compliance with company policies.
- Utilize aging reports and provide updates to management on delinquent accounts.
- Utilize strong negotiation and communication skills to interact with customers and internal stakeholders effectively.
- Escalate accounts to management or third-party agencies when necessary.
- Identify process improvement opportunities
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in accounting or finance is an asset.
- 1–3 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, or related field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems is an asset.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Knowledge of credit and collections best practices.
- Familiarity with industry-specific billing processes.
- Customer service experience.
