The ideal candidate will have solid communication, technology, organizational and analytical skills. Looking for at least five years' experience, along with a degree and solid understanding of all aspects of accounting/finance.

Position Responsibilities - include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support daily operations of accounting area. Scope includes supporting Accounts Payable, Credit / Collections functions, Cash Management and Reconciliation.
  • Reconcile sub ledger to general ledger account balances
  • Post journal entries, on-demand cheques, bank reconciliations, tax filings, and any other tasks essential to preparing monthly financials.
  • Support the month-end process from reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations through to preparing financial statements.
  • Assist in the budget preparation and processes.

  • Interface with both internal and external partners to support requests as it relates to audits with external third parties.

  • Prepare various financial statements and reports as required.

  • Maximum proficiency in the utilization of all common software packages is also mandatory, including expertise with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Strong Excel skills in data compilation (pivot tables, Vlookup, etc) and data mining.
  • Analyze and control sales and gross profit as well as monitor capital expenditures including business analysis, justification, cost analysis and present value calculations.
  • Partner with the department leads to identify cost control opportunities, benchmark and recommend strategies for productivity, cost and margin improvements.
  • Provide timely, accurate, value-added and relevant financial information, analyses and forecasts in a cost-effective manner enabling the business to profitably deliver the highest quality products and services to its customers.
  • Deliver commercial support to the business including analysis and evaluation of business opportunities to ensure adequate financial returns.
  • Analyze inventory mix and obsolescence to ensure control of working capital and financial compliance.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a fast paced, growing and ambiguous environment.
  • Integrity: accepting and adhering to high moral, ethical, and personal values in decisions, communications, actions and when dealing with others.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate across teams, build positive relationships and convey information clearly and professionally.
  • High energy level, self-starter, proactive, and results oriented
  • Overtime may be required and occasional weekends to complete critical financial deliverables. (Month end, Quarter end, Year end)
  • Other tasks or special projects as assigned by the Controller.

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in Finance or Accounting or other related discipline required.
  • 3 -5 years experience in Accounting/Finance.
  • CPA or working towards a CPA designation or equivalent
