Raw materials are at the core of lululemon's innovation and guest experience. From iconic fabrics like Nulu to the latest breakthroughs in performance and sustainability, the Raw Materials Development team is responsible for creating the next generation of fabric franchises while keeping our assortments fresh with seasonal newness. As a member of this team, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to bring materials from concept to commercialization ensuring that quality, performance, sustainability, and aesthetic excellence are considered at every stage of development.

core responsibilities

The Senior Raw Materials Developer leads the creation and execution of advanced, high-performing, and sustainable fabrics that bring lululemon's product vision to life. This role combines deep technical expertise with cross-functional partnership to deliver innovative, guest-centric material solutions that meet the highest standards of quality, performance, and responsibility. As a technical leader, the Senior Developer mentors others, drives continuous improvement, and helps shape the future of lululemon's raw material strategy.

  • Develop and commercialize fabrics that meet the technical and quality standards required across categories and business units, delivering the highest level of guest satisfaction in alignment with lululemon's strategy and goals.
  • Partner closely with Design, Product Development, and other cross-functional teams to align on fabric details, innovation priorities, and vendor technical capabilities to deliver best-in-class raw materials.
  • Provide expert insight and recommendations on material selection, commercialization timelines, and risk mitigation throughout key go-to-market gates. * Maintain a strong knowledge of vendor capabilities, market trends, and industry developments to identify and drive fabric innovation opportunities.
  • Anticipate material trends, technologies, and supplier innovations to proactively inform seasonal and long-term raw material roadmaps.
  • Serve as a sustainability champion within the Raw Materials Development team, supporting the integration of preferred, circular, and low-impact materials into seasonal and long-range strategies.
  • Act as a technical mentor and subject matter expert for Raw Materials Developers, supporting skill development and building technical excellence across the team.

qualifications

  • University or college degree in Textile Science or a related field. Candidates without a degree will be considered if industry experience demonstrates a strong technical foundation in raw materials.
  • 7+ years of textile industry experience, including fabric development, manufacturing, or technical design, with deep understanding of material innovation and commercialization processes.
  • Proven experience working directly with global mills and suppliers, including travel to manufacturing regions.
  • Strong technical knowledge of textile manufacturing processes including fiber, yarn, fabric construction, dyeing, finishing, and printing.
  • Expertise in fabric development techniques, equipment, and testing methodologies, with a solid understanding of industry testing standards and interpretation of test reports.
  • Experience managing fabric development calendars, milestones, and risk mitigation plans in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot raw material issues and deliver creative, solution-oriented results that balance performance, sustainability, and cost.
  • Working knowledge of sustainable and circular materials and an understanding of certifications, traceability, and environmental impact considerations.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and systems for material development, tracking, and data management
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and influence skills with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

compensation and benefits package

lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from 119, ,500 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program and, subject to program eligibility requirements.
