Primary Care Paramedic

As a Paramedic, you will play a crucial role in providing emergency medical care to patients at various nursing stations in Northern Manitoba's indigenous communities. You will be responsible for assessing patients' conditions, administering appropriate treatments, and transfer of care when necessary. This position requires a high level of skill, quick decision-making abilities, and the capacity to work effectively under pressure.

14 days on, 14 days off OR 21 days on, 21 days off
Daily northern living allowance
On-call and overtime pay
Responsibilities
- Assess patients' medical conditions and determine the necessary course of action.
- Provide advanced life support and emergency care to patients in critical situations.
- Administer medications and perform medical procedures as required.
- Communicate effectively with nurses, doctors, and other emergency responders regarding patient conditions and treatment plans.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of care provided.
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready for use at all times.
- Assist in heavy lifting of patients when necessary, ensuring their safety during transport.
- Commit to two or three week rotations at a time.
Skills
- Experience with Indigenous care and wellness is an asset but not required.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals.
- Proficient in medication administration techniques and protocols.
- Excellent patient care skills with a focus on compassion and empathy.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as part of patient transport and care activities. This position is essential for ensuring the health and safety of individuals in emergency situations, requiring dedication, expertise, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Comfortable with various modes of transportation such as helicopter, boats, planes.
Certifications & Requirements
- Class 4 Driver's License required
- Paramedic Certification required
- ITLS is an asset
- BLS is an asset
- Licensable with the Manitoba College of Paramedics
- Security Clearance
- 40-60 hours of pre-deployment training required

Pay: $42.00 per hour
