Job Title: Truck Driver

Division: Roads

Location: Kenora, In Person

Salary: $28.64/hr   

Benefits: In accordance with Collective Agreement

Hours of Work:   Mon-Fri. Must be available for overtime and call-ins.

Position Status:   1 Regular Full Time | This is an existing vacancy

The Truck Driver will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of City roadways throughout the year by operating a variety of equipment including but not limited to tandum trucks, snow plows, sidewalk plows, and dump trucks. The individual will operate a variety of equipment in a safe and responsible manner including the completion of all pre-operational equipment checks.

Qualifications:

• Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid 'DZ' Class Ontario Driver's License. Must provide a clean driving abstract at time of application.
• Three (3) to five (5) years previous work experience directly related to truck operation and maintenance would be as asset. 
• Experience in Heavy Equipment Operation would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of equipment, methods, and procedures used in road maintenance activities. 
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, sit for prolonged periods of time, and climb in and out of equipment. 
• Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills with a proven focus on service delivery.
• Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations specifically concerning the requirements for job hazard analysis and the development of and training on safe work procedures. 
• Ability to work independently and as a team. 
• Ability to drive and operate a variety of equipment under varying conditions.
• Ability to get along well with others including supervisors, coworkers, members of the public and other partners in service.
• Must be able to be available for overtime and call-ins.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Sands and plows municipal streets during the winter months
• Operates trucks of various sizes and weights for the hauling and unloading of various equipment, materials, and supplies
• Performs routine inspections and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
