We are seeking skilled and dedicated Echocardiography Sonographers for multiple employment types: Casual, Part-Time, and Full-Time positions.
- Note on Progression: All positions will begin as Temporary appointments with the expectation of progressing to Permanent status based on satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and organizational feasibility.
Overview
The Echocardiography Sonographer is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic cardiac ultrasound examinations to assess the function and structure of the heart.1 The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in specialized procedures, including the use of contrast agents and stress echocardiography.
Responsibilities
Clinical and Technical Duties
- Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE): Perform complete and detailed adult TTE studies in accordance with established lab protocols and national guidelines.
- Contrast Echocardiography: Demonstrate proficiency in preparing for, assisting with, and performing TTE studies utilizing ultrasound-enhancing contrast agents (e.g., Definity, Lumason) to optimize endocardial border delineation and left ventricular opacification.
- Stress Echocardiography: Perform studies including Exercise Stress Echo and Pharmacological Stress Echo(e.g., Dobutamine), ensuring accurate image acquisition at baseline, peak stress, and recovery.
- Advanced Imaging: Utilize advanced techniques such as tissue Doppler, strain imaging, and 3D acquisition when required by protocol or physician order.
- Patient Care: Review patient medical records, obtain relevant clinical history, explain procedures, and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the exam.2
- Quality Assurance: Critically evaluate image quality and technical findings, select appropriate images for inclusion in the final report, and perform accurate measurements and calculations.
Documentation and Professionalism
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for interpretation by the reading cardiologist in a timely manner.
- Maintain equipment and work areas, ensuring proper functioning and adherence to infection control standards.
- Adhere to all patient safety standards, including proper patient identification and HIPAA/confidentiality protocols.
- Participate in departmental Quality Improvement and Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) processes.
Qualifications
Education and Certification (Required)
- Successful completion of a formal, accredited diagnostic cardiac sonography program.3
- Current registration as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience and Skills (Required)
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Cardiac Sonographer.
- Demonstrable expertise in performing and optimizing Transthoracic Echocardiography with Contrast.
- Proven competence in performing and troubleshooting Stress Echocardiography
- Exceptional knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact compassionately with patients.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cerebrum EMR and Studycast PACS system (if applicable)

Pay: $31.41-$55.00 per hour
