The Controls Centre of Excellence (Controls CoE) is a customer-focused team that provides expert advice to senior management on delivering an effective internal controls strategy. The North American Controls CoE oversees segment financial control and supports projects to develop and monitor internal control programs within various business segments. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Controls and Projects, the Control Analyst will conduct control consulting projects, support external audits and regulatory examinations, and manage the closure of identified internal control gaps. This role is ideal for an internal control professional with strong relationship management, customer service, communication, and influencing skills, offering opportunities to work with business leaders to enhance control efficiency and effectiveness.

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Judgment and Process Improvement: Use appropriate judgment to handle unexpected issues, prioritize work, and contribute to process improvement and best practices in internal controls as part of the Controls CoE.

  • Customer Service and Relationship Building: Establish strong relationships and credibility with Canada Segment contacts and external auditors; find opportunities to enhance Controls CoE services and address collaborator issues.

  • Internal Control Assessments: Identify scope, schedule, or quality issues; conduct process walkthroughs; document and evaluate internal controls; draft reports with findings and recommendations.

  • Regulatory Audits and Projects Support: Collaborate with auditors on testing scopes, streamline approaches, coordinate information exchange, and provide insights to senior leaders on audit issues and recommendations.

  • Continuous Learning and Best Practices: Demonstrate commitment to updating knowledge and skills, incorporate feedback, and recommend guidelines, processes, and controls.

  • Communication and Coordination: Participate in discussions to understand issues, manage meetings with auditors and business leaders, and provide advice on audit scoping and management action plans.

Required Qualifications: 

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in progressive accounting roles is required

  • Post-secondary education in accounting or related field is required

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, particularly in the area of using sound, independent judgment, problem-solving, organizing, planning and analytical skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with influencing and negotiation abilities

  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

  • Process analysis and documentation skills, including flow charting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CIA designation is preferred

  • Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset. If the successful candidate is in Québec, proficiency in both languages will be required to support clients from various provinces outside of Quebec.​

Salary range is expected to be between

$61,350.00 CAD - $102,250.00 CAD
