For over 50 years, Island Coastal Services has been dedicated to being the top civil construction contractor in Prince Edward Island. Our main business activities include site preparation, land development, road building, municipal sewer and water installations, golf course management, as well as landscape construction, design, maintenance, and renovation.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Foreman, the Traffic Control Person will be responsible for ensuring road safety on our job sites. Based out of our construction sites, this role will direct traffic and construction vehicles.
What You'll Do
- Work with team to establish safe movement of traffic around work zone, in accordance with safety regulations and/or Department of Transportation regulations.
- Flag motorists to warn them of obstacles or repair work ahead.
- Take ownership of work zone and guide vehicles safely.
- Assist with placing signs, barricades, traffic cones, and other warning devices - duties will vary according to job assignment.
- Respond to emergencies as directed and perform tasks in the interest of public safety and property protection during emergencies.
- Adhere and support all safety requirements and quality standards set forth in the PEI Occupational Health and Safety General Regulations, PEI Occupational Health and Safety Act and Island Coastal's Safety Management System.
- Use your experience to identify health and safety deficiencies and support Management in implementing solutions OR report to Management when required.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- Traffic Control Person Certification
- Reliable transportation (is a must).
- Traffic Control experience is an asset.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to communicate effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in various locations and climate extremes.
- Flexibility for shift hours and ability to work overtime.
