Mikelle Group is partnering with a long-standing educational institution in Calgary to recruit a Controller who will lead the full accounting and financial operations of a school and its affiliated daycare. About the Role

This position reports directly to the CEO and oversees all core accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, compliance, and year-end audit preparation. The Controller will play a key role in ensuring accuracy of financial data, strengthening processes, supporting strategic decision-making, and maintaining compliance with provincial education and childcare reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities Include:


• Full-cycle accounting, budgeting, and monthly reporting


• Ensuring accuracy and reconciliation of financial data across multiple entities


• Preparing internal and external financial statements


• Leading audit preparation and liaising with external auditors


• Managing charity filings and federal/provincial reporting requirements


• Preparing all financial submissions required by Alberta Education and daycare regulators


• Overseeing payroll and supporting HR-related processes


• Providing financial insights and recommendations to the CEO


• Identifying process improvements and operational efficiencies


• Handling sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
