Clinical Leader

The Clinical Leader will be accountable to the Clinical Manager. The Clinical Leader will establish a collaborative relationship with the Program Director, Medical Directors and Clinical Directors in the programs within this portfolio. The Clinical Leader is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the services described in the program profile located at the McMaster site (outpatient, day hospital and inpatient services). The role provides leadership to the teams, and through the effective use of resources coordinates and facilitates daily clinical activities. The Clinical Leader acts as the communication liaison between services and other health care professionals and programs at MCH, as well as external hospital and community partners. The functions of the Clinical Leader include being a role model and coach to assist staff with professional development and achievement of program goals. The Clinical Leader role understands and promotes the strategic direction of the services and MCH at large. The Clinical Leader follows through on issues that impact on the quality of patient care provided. The role contributes to the monitoring and development of the operating plan and provides leadership within the services for quality and risk management activities
1. Registration as a Regulated Health Professional preferred.
2. Minimum of a baccalaureate (undergraduate) degree required in a relevant health care discipline.
3. Minimum of 5 years of relevant clinical experience in child and youth mental health services and/or adolescent health and/or child maltreatment.
4. Demonstrated understanding of mental health issues and challenges for children, youth and families with mental health needs and the current interventions and treatments applicable.
5. Demonstrated leadership skills.
6. Demonstrated excellence in communication, critical thinking and team building.
7. Experience in monitoring budgets and managing budgets preferred.
8. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and lifelong learning.
9. Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and conflict resolution.
10. Demonstrated ability in addressing the needs and care of children and youth.
11. Demonstrated ability to work in an environment that requires a high degree of organizational skills and flexibility.
12. Demonstrated commitment to the mission, vision and values of McMaster Children's Hospital.
13. Demonstrated commitment to continually develop the positive profile of mental health and removal of stigma.
14. Member in good standing with respective college or regulatory governing body.
