About the Role

The Finance Department Assistant is responsible for processing financial information, accounts receivable, banking procedures, and reconciling accounts. This role requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

  • Maintain accurate accounts receivable records in financial software
  • Ensure proper back up documentation for all receivable activity
  • Process resident rent payments and collaborate with the Community Relations Manager on unpaid rents
  • Process and manage security deposits

Banking

  • Coordinate and manage banking functions under the direction of the Finance Manager
  • Prepare and process bank deposits
  • Complete bank reconciliations

Financial Management Support

  • Assist with year-end financial audits
  • Invoice staff for benefit costs while on leave
  • Provide reports and administrative support to the Finance Manager and organizational managers
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external partners
  • Provide backup coverage for the Finance Manager as needed

Additional Duties

  • Manage petty cash and front desk funds
  • Assist with department filing and administrative tasks
  • Participate in continuous learning and quality improvement initiatives
  • Assist with accounts payable
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in accounting or bookkeeping with understanding of accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective interpersonal skills and empathy when interacting with seniors
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Experience with ComVida is considered an asset

Education Requirements

  • Education in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related discipline
  • A diploma in Business Administration is an asset
  • Knowledge of ComVida is an additional asset

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
