Welding Shop Foreman Needed at Metalec Sudbury Inc.

Your Role

As our Welding Shop Foreman, you will be the cornerstone of our shop floor, responsible for overseeing all welding and fabrication projects from start to finish. You will lead a team of talented welders and fitters, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of shop employees, including welders, fitters, and general labourers.
  • Plan, schedule, and manage workflow to meet production deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Provide hands-on guidance, training, and mentorship to your team.
  • Enforce all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to guarantee all work meets company and client standards.
  • Liaise with management, project managers and other shop supervisors to provide project updates.

Qualifications We're Looking For

We're seeking a natural leader with a strong technical background and a commitment to excellence.

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a welding/fabrication environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Certification: CWB (Canadian Welding Bureau) Welding Supervisor certification is required. A Red Seal certification as a Welder (456A) or Metal Fabricator (437A) is a strong asset.

Skills:

  • Expert proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of various welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A deep commitment to workplace safety and quality control.
