What You'll Do




The Laboratory Technician will obtain, prepare, and analyse electric arc furnace samples, raw material samples, finished product samples, and environmental water samples.  This person will investigate causes of out of specification analysis and recommend appropriate process changes.  This is a 12-hour rotating shift position reporting into the Plant Manager.

  • Conduct physical and chemical tests like crushing and screening samples
  • Process samples for further chemical analysis at outside lab
  • Record test results in our computer database
  • Use 5S cleaning and organizational techniques with our lab equipment and supplies
  • Visually and/or chemically inspect breaking floors, shipments, raw materials, and furnace feed as directed


What You'll Need




To be successful in this position, you must:

  • Have a post-secondary education in chemistry, quality control, or manufacturing OR 3 years of experience in an industrial laboratory
  • Have experience in an industrial setting, preferably a manufacturing setting
  • Be proficient in data entry and Microsoft products
  • Be able to take direction and pivot as needed
