Plumber Looking for a Bigger Challenge? Train Toward Your HVAC Ticket With Us.
If you're a plumber who's ready for the next big step — expanding your skills into refrigeration and working toward your HVAC ticket — this is your opportunity. We're Porcupine Mechanical, a growing HVAC company in the beautiful Sea-to-Sky corridor, and we're on a mission to decarbonize the built environment.
At Porcupine Mechanical, we design and install high-quality heat pump systems for residential and light commercial projects — from retrofits and renovations to new builds. Most of our work is in the Sea to Sky and we are growing into North Vancouver.
You'll take ownership of your projects from start to finish, working with a team that values initiative, accountability, and pride in a job well done. It's the kind of work that builds your skill set and moves you closer to your Red Seal Refrigeration ticket.
We're not a big company where you're just another name on the schedule. Here, your ideas matter, your work is noticed, and your future is something we invest in.
You'll join a tight-knit team that values curiosity, craftsmanship, and community, where your growth matters as much as the work itself.
Why Work With Us
We know there are lots of plumbing jobs out there. But at Porcupine Mechanical, you're not just another pair of hands, you're part of a team that's building a better future.
Here's what sets us apart:
- We care about people and the planet - sustainability is at the heart of what we do.
- We believe in balance Most of our crew works 10-hour shifts, 4 day weeks.
- We offer real career development, cross-training, and education support, because your growth helps us all move forward.
- We take pride in what we do and work hard to do it well, but we keep things light, supportive, and collaborative along the way.
What You'll Be Doing
This role combines hands-on installation with system-level understanding, helping you build the technical depth and experience needed to earn your HVAC ticket.
You'll take ownership of your work from start to finish, with opportunities to lead projects and mentor others as your experience grows. Your days will include:
- Service, repair, and troubleshooting — diagnosing issues and keeping systems running at peak performance
- Leadership opportunities — guiding apprentices, taking the lead on installs, and contributing to continuous improvement across the team
- Refrigeration piping, electrical, and controls work
- Sheet metal fabrication, installation, and field modification
- System setup, programming, and commissioning
- System layout, installation planning, and coordination
- Hoisting, rigging, and setting HVAC and plumbing equipment
What You Bring
- Plumbing experience (Journeyman)
- A Class 5 driver's licence with a clean record
- Curiosity - you want to learn refrigeration, controls, and heat pump systems
- Pride in your workmanship
- A positive attitude and good sense of humor (we like to laugh on the job)
What's In It for You
We believe good people deserve good benefits. Here's what you'll get:
- Extended health, dental, and vision coverage
- Paid time off
- Wellness program
- Work vehicle
- Education and Red Seal support
- A team that has your back
