About the Role
Our facilities are destinations where families come together for recreation, fitness, and community. We're seeking a Facilities & Site Operations Manager to oversee two large, high-traffic complexes in Burlington and the Niagara region (ActivityPlex Burlington & ActivityPlex St. Catharines).
This role blends property and facilities management with hospitality and customer service leadership. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable troubleshooting building systems as they are creating a welcoming environment for families, children, tenants, and guests from diverse backgrounds. You'll manage daily site operations, coordinate contractors, and ensure smooth service delivery across all aspects of the complexes.
The position is on-site (split between both locations) and requires a valid driver's licence.
Key Responsibilities
Guest & Tenant Experience
- Act as the on-site point of contact for tenants and guests, ensuring concerns are addressed quickly and professionally.
- Foster a safe, family-friendly environment that aligns with our community values.
- Communicate clearly and comfortably in English with families, children, and community members while maintaining professionalism.
- Draw on hospitality experience to engage effectively with diverse tenant and guest groups.
- Oversee service delivery, space turnovers, and event support to maintain a positive guest experience.
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Conduct daily site walks and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Coordinate and supervise contractors for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, janitorial, and general repairs.
- Communicate effectively with both contractors and tradespeople to ensure quality standards are met.
- Respond to urgent issues (e.g., leaks, power outages, safety hazards) and manage after-hours emergencies.
- Maintain property aesthetics and standards consistent with a family-oriented recreational space.
Vendor & Cost Management
- Source, negotiate, and manage vendor contracts.
- Monitor OPEX and CAPEX budgets, approve invoices, and implement cost-effective solutions.
Compliance & Safety
- Maintain accurate safety and inspection records (fire logs, MSDS, HVAC, elevator).
- Promote a culture of safety for staff, tenants, and guests.
What You Bring
- 4+ years of experience in facilities, property management, or hospitality operations (multi-site or large-scale).
- Strong background in hospitality including guest relations, customer service, and staff leadership in high-traffic environments.
- Proven ability to manage vendors, supervise maintenance teams, and coordinate multiple departments.
- Working knowledge of building systems and hands-on maintenance oversight.
- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with families, children, tenants, and contractors alike.
- Experience working in multicultural guest environments, bringing adaptability and cultural sensitivity to a diverse community hub.
- Demonstrated success in ensuring health & safety compliance in high-occupancy environments.
- Budgeting, cost control, and project-management skills.
- Valid G-class driver's licence and ability to travel between sites.
- Availability for occasional evenings/weekends in emergencies.
Nice to Have
- Trade certification or Facility Management designation.
- Experience managing hospitality, recreational, or family-centered properties.
- WSIB-approved Health & Safety training.
