Job Title: Boom Truck Driver – Lumber & Building Supplies
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Boom Truck Driver to join our delivery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a boom truck to deliver lumber, plywood, engineered wood products, and other building materials to residential, commercial, and industrial job sites. This role requires strong attention to safety, customer service, and efficient load handling.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a boom truck and other delivery vehicles to transport lumber and building materials to customer locations and construction sites.
- Load, secure, and unload materials using the boom crane or other appropriate equipment.
- Verify accuracy of orders before leaving the yard and obtain customer signatures upon delivery.
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard staff, and customers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the vehicle and assist with yard duties as needed.
- Follow all safety policies, traffic laws, and workplace regulations.
- Represent the company in a professional manner and provide excellent customer service on every delivery.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 3 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
- Boom Crane Operator Certification (e.g., 0–8 Ton or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating a boom truck or similar equipment in a lumber, construction, or materials delivery setting is an asset.
- Strong understanding of load securement and safe material handling practices.
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of building materials and construction sites considered an asset.
Working Conditions
- Primarily outdoor, field-based role involving frequent lifting and operation of heavy equipment.
- Regular exposure to weather conditions and construction environments.
- Standard schedule: Monday–Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend deliveries as needed.
