Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA) to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide high-quality patient care across a variety of clinical settings, including hospital, outpatient, and urgent care environments. Your expertise will support physicians and other healthcare professionals in delivering comprehensive assessments, diagnostics, treatments, and patient education. Duties
- Perform thorough physical examinations and patient assessments to evaluate health status and identify medical conditions.
- Assist in diagnosing illnesses through diagnostic evaluation, interpretation of lab results, imaging studies, and medical records review.
- Administer injections, medications, and treatments including suturing, IV infusions, and airway management techniques.
- Manage acute pain and chronic conditions utilizing evidence-based practices such as pain management protocols and opioid stewardship.
- Conduct triage in emergency room or urgent care settings to prioritize patient needs efficiently.
- Document clinical encounters accurately using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, post-acute care, hospice & palliative medicine, and rehabilitation services.
- Support clinical research initiatives by collecting data, managing medical records for research studies, and participating in clinical trials to advance medical knowledge.
- Perform procedures including phlebotomy, suturing, catheterization (including cardiac catheterization), spinal taps, gastric lavage, and dermal fillers when applicable.
- Engage in health coaching and patient education on topics like family planning, nutrition, addiction counseling, occupational health, and disease prevention.
- Maintain proficiency in CPT coding and ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate billing and documentation purposes.
- Participate in infection control practices and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures.
- Assist with ventilator management for ICU patients or neonatal ventilator support as needed within hospital settings.
- Support hospital operations by participating in emergency response protocols such as airway management during critical events or trauma situations at Level I or Level II trauma centers.
Experience
- Prior experience working in hospital medicine or medical-surgical units is essential; ICU experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic or Cerner is required; telehealth experience is a plus.
- Experience administering injections, performing physical examinations, managing complex patient cases involving acute care or critical illness is highly valued.
- Background working within emergency medicine or urgent care environments enhances your ability to triage effectively under pressure.
- Exposure to infectious disease care protocols or working at trauma centers (Level I or II) will be advantageous.
- Familiarity with hospital coding standards (CPT/ICD) ensures accurate documentation for billing purposes.
- Proven ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers and other healthcare professionals is essential.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred for those involved in critical care scenarios.
- Experience with clinical research activities including data collection and management supports ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
