Baycrest is an academic health sciences centre providing a continuum of care for older adults—including independent living, assisted living, long-term care, and post-acute hospital services—all within one campus.

Responsibilities

  • Write detailed reports and investigate routine incidents
  • Respond promptly to coded emergencies
  • Provide exceptional customer service and assist individuals in distress
  • Remain physically active—sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods (up to 3-4 hours between breaks)
  • Monitor and escalate security concerns within the Emergency Department
  • Assist in developing and implementing security plans for high-risk patients
  • Provide a visible and professional security presence
  • Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to manage conflicts
  • Support patient watch guards within the Emergency Department
  • Collaborate with local Law Enforcement and Emergency Services
  • Ensure safety of staff, patients, and visitors
  • Assist with patient restraints when required in accordance with hospital procedures
  • Adhere to all hospital and Paladin Security policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (2 doses minimum)
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certification - Level C (WSIB-approved provider)
  • Proficient in English (oral and written)
  • 1-2 years of experience in security
  • Physically fit and capable of performing extended physical activity
  • Experience working with Law Enforcement
  • Immunization record: TB 1+2, MMR, Varicella
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (to be completed upon hire)
  • Diploma in Justice Studies/Police Foundations (asset)
