Offering resident centered care with a specialized focus on our award winning Avenir Alzheimer's program. Designed to encourage interaction and independence while concentrating on meeting resident's unique needs by promoting their individuality and enhancing their health and spiritual well being.
This community will be the first stand alone memory care residence available to seniors living with dementia on Vancouver Island. Residents will benefit from Nanaimo Memory Care's neighbourhood design concept and secure home-like environment. Alzheimer's trained licensed professional staff on site 24 hours a day conduct meaningful engagements personalized to each residents preferences. Our residents will enjoy elegantly furnished private and semi private suites with a personal bathroom.
Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
Perform a variety of food service functions in maintaining clean and sanitary conditions of food service areas, facilities and equipment. May assist in some aspects of food preparation.
Essential Job Functions:
Exemplify at all times the Community standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and operational organization.
Responsible for adhering to food quality, appearance, and presentation standards at all times.
Perform kitchen activities including: ware washing system set-up and break down, dish washing, pot washing, general cleaning duties, storing of food, and non-food supplies, and prep production.
Assist serving staff with setting of tables and work station areas as well as clearing tables.
Clean and sanitize production equipment, work surfaces, ware-washing system, and area in the kitchen.
Knowledge of diets provided and served correctly per Policy and Procedure.

Education Required:
Completion of Jr. High or the equivalent education, training and experience.
Years of Experience:
6 months previous utility/dish washing experience preferred.
Knowledge/Skills:
Kitchen organization and preparation hands-on responsibilities.
Teamwork role with all Food and Beverage staff.
Knowledge in areas of local Health Department, OSHA, and other regulatory agencies.
Good communication skills (oral and written).
Good inter-departmental communication skills and teamwork skills.

Doctor's statement verifying free from communicable disease
List tools, equipment, machines computers and software used on the job:
All beverage dispensing equipment, china, flatware, glasses, linens, buss trays & carts, hot and cold food holding equipment, ware-washing system.

Ability to perform job requirements, maintain a safe work environment, ability to read and communicate effectively.
Environmental factors:
The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
The worker is subject to extreme heat, hazards and other environmental conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation (oven cleaners).
